The Vision

Through a three-pronged approach—providing effective care to survivors, safeguarding and sustaining therapists, and equipping organizations with training to reduce secondary trauma—Embers of Hope works to strengthen the fight against trafficking at every level.

Our Story

The concept for Embers of Hope was born during my work with a safehouse in another state, where I was tasked with developing a sustainable mental health program for survivors of trafficking. What I encountered were overwhelming systemic barriers—particularly the lengthy and complex credentialing process required for state insurance—which significantly delayed access to care. Women who were ready to begin healing from exploitation were forced to wait. After months of frustration and setbacks, I recognized that if survivors were going to receive timely, trauma-informed treatment, a new model was needed. Embers of Hope was created to directly fund therapy and remove the bureaucratic obstacles that so often stand in the way of healing.

As a therapist, I also wanted to build a model that honors and supports clinicians. Therapists should not have to sacrifice fair compensation to serve this population, especially amid declining insurance reimbursements and increasing burnout. Embers of Hope exists to support both survivors and providers—ensuring consistent, high-quality care while protecting the sustainability of those delivering it. Beyond direct funding, we desire to partner with and train other organizations serving survivors of trafficking, equipping them with trauma-informed frameworks, clinical insight, and practical resources to better care for this deeply marginalized population. Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, we aim to strengthen systems of care so survivors receive the long-term, comprehensive support they deserve.
